A high school student arrives in Tokyo after being put on probation for a crime he did not commit. Forced to transfer to Shujin Academy and live under the watch of a family friend, he discovers a hidden world called the Metaverse, where the distorted desires of corrupt adults manifest as physical realms. Together with a group of fellow outcasts who share his ability to awaken Personas, manifestations of their inner selves, he forms the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. Operating under the codename Joker, the protagonist leads his team into the Palaces of those who abuse their power, stealing the source of their corruption and forcing them to confess their crimes.
